A one-day holiday

Saturday the 28th of May, I took the bus to a little place near here that is called Åhus. Its located on the coastal line of Kristianstad municipality, right on the mouth of  the river Helge å where it meets the sea. The town itself is said to have been there since the beginning of the first millennium, although the oldest settlements you can see the remains of today is the ruins of Aose hus, a castle that belonged to the archbishop Eskil. The building is dated back to the early 1100 ad. It was dug forth from tons of sand during the end of 17th century. I didn't go there myself, as it was quite out of my route.

The reason why I went to Åhus was to see the beach, the legendary hundreds of kilometers long sand beach. All white and totally beautiful. And as a bonus I discovered that the "centrum" of the town had quite interesting historical landmarks.
And let me just tell you, the beach was fantastically beautiful. I hope I can bring my friends and family there to enjoy it in the future, because this was completely stunning! And the silence! I thought I had come on a holiday where everything was closed or everyone just happened to have gone out of town, save for a few fishermen. All you could hear was the waves, the wind and my own personal thoughts. Could be that I happened to be there on a day that didn't offer the best of weather, but none the less, totally worth it. It was just sad that I had no one to show this to, to share the sights with...

The sand in my shoes and pockets(!) are clear reminders of a beautiful day.
The names are those who are sponsors of the pier.
One of the sights grabbed my attention and imagination. It’s called the sarcophagus. It was a giant 8 ton stone box with lid, that had been pulled from a boat wreckage that was discovered on only 3m deep water in the bay south of a place called Revhaken close by. They pulled up one of the sarcophagi in the cargo in the 1950's, they placed it near the ruin of S:t Annas cloister, and is clearly a local myth creator. You could clearly see that the water had eaten on it for a long time. What I found most mystifying, was that this piece of historical display (if one should say so) didn't have any plaque or sign on it saying what this was, just a little comment on the sign telling about S:t Annas cloister. Every other piece of archaeology in this area had detailed information about it nearby. I wonder what was its purpose?? And for that matter, all of the remaining underwater copies of this one. How old is it and why did the ship sink on that shallow water? Did they overload it and it just sank and was left there? Where did the ship come from, why did it have a cargo of sarcophagi? I mean, what is the popular demand of those? One every king death?
And as it seems, ABSOLUT vodka are produced here.

During my stay there the weather started to become more and more gray, almost onto raining. Quickly deciding that I had seen what needed to be seen and hurried onto a bus leaving back to Kristianstad.

The Dragon mystery

When I was in Gothenburg with Amanda some weeks back, I bought these lovely earrings from a very interesting shop, called Avi & Lena.

They have now been missing two times, and I have never used them. The first time was just after I'd returned from the journey, and unpacked only sporadically (so of course it was laying in a bag), but this last time I was on the verge of panic, that today I couldn't find them anywhere, I even looked behind the fridge.

The reason for this panicky searching?
I live in a 29m2 flat here in Kristianstad, with only a room and a bathroom, and nobody except me has keys to this place. The conclusion I took then was that someone has been in my flat without me knowing it. Panic and short breathing started to spread.... Could people just come in here as they pleased?? Paranoid thoughts accompanied the panicky feeling...

But then again, logically, why take a tiny pouch with earrings, and not my camera or laptop, worth way more?
So they must be here somewhere, I tried to say to myself. I searched through the little stuff I have here, several times over. I even started to lift mattresses to see if I had for some reason walked in my sleep and hidden it there, but no. On the fourth time I upside-downed one of my purses the little black pouch they are stored in came into view. I can't understand WHY I found it on the fourth time, and not the first. I mean, I literally poured out this little purses contents three times before I found my pouch-o-Dragon earrings on the last go. Hence the title.

Has anyone else had this kind of situation?

Kids + boredom =...?

Yesterday I was in H&M for some haircolor, queue-ing for the cashier. There was a father with his two kids, a girl and a boy, waiting on the side, I guess the mom was in the line in front of me.

The girl was restless, as it is very boring to wait endlessly when you are little. She walked a bit around, and fumbled with stuff on the shelves. And the waiting started to be boringly long.

I have this space invaders bag, right, check the picture. A little bit of nostalgia there. Anyway.

This little girl suddenly walks up to my purse, she is so small that she has to stretch to reach its front, pretends to pick one of the space invaders from the purse, and put it in her mouth! She even smacked with her lips and pretended it was good! haha!!!

It really made standing in queue worth it!

There's something about the water

I've been here in Kristianstad, Skåne län, Sweden now for over a week, and there is something about the water that makes me wonder.

For one, it tastes very different. Which I noticed this weekend when I was in Göteborg with Amanda. The water here just tastes... plasticy.. ish. hard to describe really. But its not a fresh or refreshing taste.

And its IMPOSSIBLE to feel that the soap is fully rinsed away from dishes, showering, washing hands, hairwash etc. My hair looks like a bland dull red cloth that has been out in the sun too long. I'm worrying a bit about coloring it. Will I ever get the chemicals out from the hair?

HOW do the people here do it? I've seen people with shiny, clean and no leftover-soap-look in their hair. Do they have very long showers, or is there a secret "Skåne-soap" that everyone use?

And I washed a white tank top here the other day, it came back with weird-ass looking stains on it. Like the yellowish brown color that can come on the inside of mens white shirt collars after long time use. But it was on the outside of the top. I swear it was not spilled on or spotty before going in the washer.

Is it because the water here contains more minerals, that it feels so different? In any case, I prefer water from my own hometown(s) best.
