Helsinki Night of Arts

-note; I had trouble uploading this, so it is very delayed news…

We decided to go a bit too late, so we didn't get to see the earliest stuff. But we discovered many interesting things. Like the trapeze artist and drummer suspended from a large tree, random people doing tricks with hula-hoops, trick bikers with fancy pirouettes, and the most famous pyrotechnic group of Finland, Polte.

They had difficulties with their sound system, so after 45 minutes of waiting, they decided to do the show without any music. And I think they managed to keep the rhythm of the show very well. One can clearly see that they are the best of the best in class.

After this show, we went to Painobaari to get the warmth back into our extremities, and say hi to the ever-great bartender from New York, John. (we were lucky to get seats tho, it was very full).

Downside of the evening, was that YTV, the company that organizes public transport in Helsinki area, haven’t given a rats ass about arranging more busses and trains, on a night where there is over 100 000 people in the downtown area in need of going home.

Travel IQ

Take a mini world map, a tiny cursor and add a countdown-timer, and this is what you get.

This Traveler IQ was calculated on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 08:15AM GMT by comparing this person's geographical knowledge against the Web's Original Travelogue's 4,439,420 travelers who've taken the challenge.

It was quite troublesome to find some of the cities there. say fex a city in Belgium, when the entire size of BeNeLux is smaller than a pinky-toe-nail.

I’ll have to admit, I have the feeling this isn’t the last time I test this, and try for bigger travel-brain =)

Phew

It worked. Obviously I can now publish pics from picasa with this windows live writer. But what a hazzle to figure out how. NONE of any of the help files told me what to do.

The learning curve of fire

In the middle of June I tried to teach myself how to take nice photographs of fire. I have always liked the random but still very pattern-like images a bonfire make.

All the late summer evenings grilling marshmallows and sausages on a stick, listening to the evening birds and smelling that fresh outdoors at its best, feeling the heat of the flame in my face and trying to capture that moment forever…
Or just staring into the fire and imagine small fire gnomes or creatures living in there, what are they doing…

so. in trying to capture that feeling, with camera, without burning my fringes off, this was the result;

darthvaderflames

This kinda looks like Darth Wader yelling at some stormtroopers

falmez

I’m gonna call this the three-headed alien flame.

So. Some I got very happy with =) good first try anyways. Oh and yes, these are only the good ones, I’m not telling how many not-meeting-the-quality. Didn’t burn anything important(it was freezing outside anyway, so close to fire was good)

And yes. This was Johannus evening. Very traditional Finnish thing.

403 forbidden!

…WHY!! I try to really make a nice looking blog post and get “FORBIDDEN!” as the answer!

Maybe I shouldn’t take it personally ;(

..and try again later, good thing I can save the drafts

What to do with boredom…

…seriously! My mom always said that boredom was excellent for children, because then their minds and imagination would develop properly.

And then she always added the killer of all moods(atleast for a childs mind):
“hey! I’ve got something you could do if you don’t come up with anything!!”
and I go:
“yes!! finally! what!?! Tell me!!”,
mom says:
“ you can go out with the garbage!”
(or variations of –clean your room –vacuum the living room and other chore related stuff)

And now… Just to rid myself of a tiniest bit of boredom for a small amount of time; Let’s go do some house work…… bah
Or maybe give the cat a  shower…. hmmm…

Okay, show me the end of the labyrinth

just added NASAs little “image of the day” gadget, and got little bit disappointed about the picture for today. Hmmh! was kinda expecting there to be stars and stuff like “gods hand” and things. mjeh. Guess wondrous things don’t appear every day.

Anyway, I think I may have found my way into the labyrinths middle or close by, familiarizing myself with the features and gadgets and permissions and settings and the like. It’s just that now I cant seem to find the simplest of things, like ex. my profile editing! maybe I need more coffee…

getting started

Okay, so now I’m a member of the ever-growing family of googles blogger. Been wondering really how many there really is… I mean, people that blog on a weekly basis. And how many readers they have? What do they write about? Would it be so that its only my friends and family that would wanna check this page out?

Wonder what kind of weirdness will be blurted out from me … totally random things I suppose…?
